The aviation industry made its long-awaited return to the Paris Air Show this week, the first since 2019. An impressive display of commercial, military, and business and general aviation aircraft lined the side of the Le Bourget Airport runway, many with GE Aerospace technology onboard.

Day 1: Saturday, June 17, 2023

GE Aerospace runs one of the world's largest supercomputer simulations to test revolutionary new open fan engine architecture

• GE Aerospace is first business to use the U.S. Department of Energy Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Frontier supercomputer, the world's fastest supercomputer
• Frontier can process billions upon billions of operations per second
• GE-developed models being used to study performance of open fan engine architecture for next-generation commercial aircraft engines
• These models developed in partnership with ORNL could help reduce CO2 emissions by more than 20%

The *CFM RISE program is on track for ground and flight tests mid-decade

Two years after unveiling one of the aviation industry’s most comprehensive technology demonstrator programs for a more sustainable future of flight, CFM International has completed more than 100 tests as part of its Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines (RISE) technology program.

Korea Aerospace Industries selects GE Aerospace to supply the Health and Usage Monitoring System for the Korean Marine Attack Helicopter

“This award builds upon and continues a strong business relationship of supplying rotorcraft health monitoring systems to KAI,” said Matt Burns, president & general manager for Avionics with GE Aerospace. “We continue to advance the HUMS technology in support of rotorcraft OEMs as well as civil and military rotorcraft operators.”

Jet2 PLC orders Additional CFM LEAP-1A Engines to Power 71 New Airbus A320/A321 NEO Family Aircraft

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays plc today announced at International Paris Air Show that it has selected CFM International’s advanced LEAP-1A engines to power its further order for up to 71 new Airbus A320 NEO/A321NEO family aircraft, of which 35 are firm orders.

The agreement includes spare engines and a long-term services support agreement, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2028.

Day 4: Tuesday, June 20, 2023

GE Aerospace and Clemson University announce research into advanced materials for flight

GE Aerospace and Clemson University announced today at the Paris Air Show they have received funding from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to continue to develop next-generation materials that can withstand intense temperatures while flying at high speed.

GE Aerospace signs MOU to explore research collaboration opportunities for the future of flight

GE Aerospace and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore opportunities to collaborate on research and development for next generation aerospace technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.

TEI and GE Aerospace sign F110 MRO service agreement

TUSAS Engine Industries Inc. (TEI) and GE Aerospace have reached an agreement extending TEI’s license to conduct F110 Depot Level Maintenance services for several countries which operate F-16 & F-15 fighter aircraft. The collaboration will further strengthen ties between TEI and its long-term partner GE Aerospace in military engine services.

Garuda Indonesia, GE Aerospace enter strategic cooperation to restore airline’s fleet of engines

GE Aerospace today announced its strategic cooperation with Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia's national airline, to restore and overhaul the airline’s fleet of GE and CFM* engines.

Garuda and its subsidiaries, Garuda Group, GMF AeroAsia and Citilink, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GE Aerospace that encompasses training and skills development, lease engine support and overhaul services for Garuda Indonesia’s fleet of CFM56-7B and GE90-115B engines.

CFM International and Avolon Sign Agreement for 80 LEAP-1B Engines

CFM International is partnering with Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, to provide 80 CFM LEAP-1B engines for Avolon’s recent order of 40 Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft. The new aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2030.

Republic Airways orders 37 more engines to power all-CF34 fleet

GE Aerospace announced today it will be fulfilling orders for 37 CF34-8E engines for Republic Airways’ fleet of Embraer E170/175 regional jets. The order includes spares and an extension of the airline’s TrueChoice™ services agreement.

Riyadh Air signs deal for 90 GEnx engines to power Boeing 787 Dreamliner Fleet

Following its recent agreement for a wide-body order of 39 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, Riyadh Air has signed a deal for 90 GEnx-1B engines to power its new fleet. The order also includes spare engines and a TrueChoice services agreement.

China Airlines Orders GEnx Engines to Power 787 Fleet

China Airlines announced today an order for 17 GEnx-1B engines and spares to power its growing fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner commercial jets. The order also includes a comprehensive services agreement.
